As we have all seen the effects of the economy on gas prices, many consumers are turning to the purchase of an electric vehicle. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars a month on gas, electric vehicle owners rely on car chargers to charge up their vehicles. A recent study shows that the average EV driver does 80% of their charging at home.

Types of Electric Car Charging Stations
​
Charging your vehicle is easy, just plug your charger into the designated charging port on your EV. With different makes and models of electric vehicles emerging yearly, we possess the skill and expertise to satisfy all of your charging needs. Generally, chargers fall into three categories: Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Chargers (known as Level 3).
Level 1 Chargers
120V Outlet (Standard Outlet)

Miles & Charge Time: 3-5 miles per hour of charging

EV Charger included with many new EVs.

Good for overnight and workplace charging.

Ideal for commuters traveling short distances:

Up to 40 miles in 10-12 hours​

Keeping peak utility rates in mind for charging purposes and due to the time constraint of a Level 1 charger, a Level 2 charger may be a better option for homeowners traveling farther distances and/or who are limited on charging time​.
Level 2 Chargers
240V Outlet (Dryer Outlet)

Miles & Charge Time: 12-25 miles per hour or charging depending on power output level

Residential and Commercial use.

Faster charging for longer drives.

Ideal for commuters traveling 35+ miles/day

Capable of fully charging an empty battery in 4-8 hours

These chargers however cannot be plugged into a standard outlet and require installation by a licensed contractor or as a part of a solar system.
Level 3: DC Fast Chargers
Public Charging Stations

Miles & Charge Time: 0 to 80% charge in 30-40 minutes

Typically used for Commercial properties only.

Costs to charge can vary based on the charging network.

Consists of various connectors depending on EV type.

Ideal for long road trips.

Great for supplementing home charging while at school, work, etc.
